The Consortium in which Vastalla takes part has just won a Horizon 2020 call with the “AstroChemical Origins” (ACO) project. The project will last 4 years and it is a Marie Curie (MSCA-ITN-ETN) action. The University of Grnoble (France) leads the Consortium that is formed by a network of universities and European research institutes.

ACO objectives

ACO project has two main objectives:

  1. to unveil the early history of the Solar System, using the chemical composition of today forming Solar-like planetary systems and comparing it with that of the Solar System primitive bodies
  2. to train a new generation of researchers able to tackle this highly interdisciplinary problem, providing them with a wide-range of transferable skills, including the ability to communicate Science to a large audience

The project kick-off is planned for May 2019.

Vastalla will work on the project together with the University of Grenoble to the challenge making use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) techniques. During the project a candidate will work to take the PhD at the University of Grenoble; the candidate will work during the PhD programme for one year and half at the University of Grenoble and for the remaining one year and half at Vastalla. In Vastalla the PhD student will work specifically on Artificial Intelligence.

The opening for applying to the PhD programme will be around late Spring 2019 so to start the PhD programme on Autumn 2019.
